How do I configure Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 email router for on-premise use only?

I am configuring Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for use with the Email Router. I have everything installed correctly. My issue is with configuring the Email Router's incoming and outgoing configuration profiles. My deployment is exclusively On-Premise...

The incoming direction only provides ExchangeOnline and WebDAV protocols and the outgoing direction only provides ExchangeOnline and SMTP...

How do I configure for on-premise in a scenario where I have my own exchange server on my own network (single domain).

    Hi,

    You have it correct.

    Outgoing - use SMTP server

Incoming - CRM 2011 Exchange Router has several options depending on the Exchange version you are using.

One more question... And I suppose this should have been the first one... Do I need the email router if my users all access CRM via their Outlook 2007 client. I was under the impression that I need the email router if I want processes to automatically fire to recipients (inside or outside the deployment).

I would employ email router for automated workflow user or queues. You want the regular users to use Outlook/Exchange to not load up the email router.

    We have at SA IT:

INCOMING: Exchange 2010 using Exchange Web Services (using

OUTGOING: SMTP (setup with a dedicated user who can send emails on the CRM user's behalf).

NOTE: Make sure to that the Incoming profile to use the user credentials that can be setup by the user under Options. You will see this only when you have this user using email router.

I am struggling with same scenario.  I don't want the users to have to re-enter their credentials when ever they change their passwords.  Is there another way to set this up that does not require users to update their credentials for CRM E-mail router

    Fredrick,

Talk to your Exchange Admins and setup a Global Exchange account which has permissions to read and send on behalf of the CRM user. I beleive Exchange Admins will throw a fit when you suggest this idea. However if you can get a buy off before requesting them to do this might help. Then you can setup the Incoming profile with this user and you should be ready to go. You might have to experiment with the permissions of the Exchange Global user account to make the Exchange Web Services to work correctly.

    Hope this helps.

I have managed to setup the CRM router as per this post. My only problem is that by using this method. When users send out email through CRM, the outgoing emails do not show up in the users sent item folder in outlook.

Is there any way for all email sent through the exchange connector to show up in the sent items folder in outlook ?

Thanks for all the help above
