Shopify Connector - Customer and contacts

We have set up connector to import/create customers in BC with the order import from Shopify. It's a clean D2C setup.
The customer and contact are created fine in BC if it's a new customer. However the customer has an email address, the contact has blank email address?? Same person?!
 
This gives a conflict later on if the same customer makes a new purchase. The order import says something about a missing email on the contact which is correct, because it's blank for some reason. 
But how can we avoid this error message??
Obviously since customer and contact is the same person the emailaddress should be the same. But most importantly we just want to get rid of the error.

    Hello ,
     
    This is by design in the Shopify connector.
     
    Customer email is saved on Customer
     
    Contact email is left blank
     
    Next order tries to match by Contact email → error
     
     
    Fix (choose one):
     
    Change Shopify matching to Customer No. (not Contact email)
     
    Or auto-copy Customer Email → Contact Email (small customization)

    How will it be able to match if we change to customer no? Because that's created automatically in BC and I don't believe the customer has a customer no in Shopify?
     
    So how will it be able to match the customer if he/she places their second order?
     
    Totally crazy the emailaddress is left blank on contact. Makes no sense..
