I install the rms 2.0 with the sql 2008 r2 express 32bit on windows 7 pro and also install on server 2008 r2 64bit with sql 2008 r2 standard.  After doing a z-report, the offlinedb pop up this error message  OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "(null)" returned message "Login timeout expired".  even I tried to run the query as everyone suggested.  It is still not able to sync.  Any suggestion?

Thanks,

Hai Lam

Can you let us know how you have given offline database details in SOA? I mean Server name etc.

My server name is POM-RMS2 and static ip 10.1.10.10.  I setup Offlinedb at Reg1, Reg2....,

Before I using sql 2005 server and workstation, it is working fine with offlinedb.  I change to new server 2008 r2 and workstation 2008 r2 express.  It got this error since then.  Whatever I do, it is still pop up the error, even I change the pipe name to the ip address.  I also change the server property of the connections to unlimited (no expired time) and run the sql management studio and check the link of ole provider to allow remote connection.  It is no help either.

Also let you know since I change to the new pos systems using sql 2008 r2, my pccharge is processing slower than before I used in sql-2005 double time.  It took about 14 seconds to complete a transaction compare with 5 or 6 seconds in sql 2005.

    Thanks for reply,

Which RMS version including updates are you running?  i.e. RMS 2.0 CU5.

PC Charge is not longer supported and is not PCI compliant.  But PCCharge uses windows files sharing to transfer data to and from RMS.  So firewalls and other security factors can make the transfer slower.

I just update the Rms 2.0 to service pack 4.  I didn't update feature pack 2 or any hot fix after that.  The same setup but different sql server version and windows 7.  I don't think the firewall is the problem, because I try to disable it to see how it works, but it is still the slow.

    Thanks for response!
