How?! Possible to have multiple N:N Criteria for Dynamic Marketing Lists (or Advanced Find)??

Hi All,

I have a custom entity called 'Interests' that has an N:N relationship with Contacts/People. So I can on the Contact's form, in a sub-grid, I can add 'Interest' against a person. E.g. I may tag a person with an Interest in 'Smallcaps' and also an Interest in 'Software Services'. Two separate tags. Some people may have have only one of those two tags, some may have none, some both.

Question: How on earth do I get a dynamic Marketing list to give me people only with Both tags, Not people with one or the other or both...?

These two links with info sound like it's exactly what i need, but it isn't. It seems to be giving one tag OR the other tag...?

So tried this, but it is not giving me people with ONLY both tags. In fact, i have no idea what this is giving me.

Tried this and I just get nothing:

Tried this, nothing:

Tried this (added both tags in the one field), gives me all people with either/or:

Try the scenario that you have in the first image:

but create an OR criteria with Interest and Clients.

I think that is what you are looking for. If it works in Advanced Find, you should be able to use it in Marketing Lists, as long as the Parent entity record is Contact, Account or Lead. We have done similar things with related N:N relationships, so it should be possible.

If it's not what you are looking for, please provide additional sample.

    Hope this helps...

Sorry - I don't understand (or don't know how) to do what you said: "create an OR criteria with Interest and Clients" ...? My understanding is that you can only Group under the same entity. I tried selecting everything to 'group OR', but cannot...

And, just curious, wouldn't I want an AND statement? The result needs to be: only give me contacts with Tag 1 AND Tag 2... ?

Thank you again - appreciate the help!

FYI - these are the settings (and 'Client' = the OOTB Contact entity)

Just some additional info... as really cannot believe CRM cannot do this 'simple' logic

but, it seems, no matter what the nested second filter is, it only ever gives the result of the first query...?

This will give me people with either Tag 1 or Tag 2 or both:

This will give me only people with Tag 2!? Not people with only Tag 2 and Tag 1...

Would love any insight at all to why. Is it the N:N relationship?

I had the same issue and I was not able to solve it. because usually when you want to use an "And" Operator on many to many you need to make two "Joint" (in sql term) to the main entity which is client in your case.

and doing two joint with advanced find is not possible. because when you try to add interest twice the system will stop you

Thanks Chadi - I find that very surprising then for CRM!

Surly N:N mappings/tags are very normal/common in CRM to help classify? This concept cannot be unique to my specific custom entity...

How did you, (or how do others) then get a basic list of people for a Marketing list where you want only people with tag 1 AND Tag 2.

Can you power Marketing Lists from Fetch XML?

Otherwise, I don't even know how I'd do the tagging system differently without significantly more messy tagging or admin...

    Is this a flaw?
