Does D365 have something that will allow some type of alert to when an activity like appointment, or phone call, etc...is about to be due?
Hi,
Yes, this is possible by dynamics standard feature.
use changed base alert and due date alert.

Maybe you can create a Power Automate flow to trigger a notification for each Activity that is due.
Please check the following template as example:
Send a push notification when a Dynamics 365 task owned by me is updated | Microsoft Power Automate
Get a daily email with all Dynamics 365 activities that are due today | Microsoft Power Automate
Or you can try to use Alerts4Dynamics ,which lets you notify your target audience right within the CRM. You can define alerts for an individual record or set of records based on rules which can be displayed as notifications or pop-ups.
