Can I and How do you clear ALL transactions and History from a register

MS RMS 2.0

I am setting up a new register for a thrift-store. To get all my items and receipts to practice/play with I backed up the database and did a restore to the new register. Got everything working but now I want to clear ALL of the transactions and history. Is this possible, and how would I do this?

The registers do not talk to each other or to a back office PC, or a shared database. They are stand alone and pretty basic use.

We are probably NOT using RMS as we should but hope to start making the best of it once we get some knowledgeable RMS support, which I have just posted this need on this forum. Thanks in advance....

    There are several tables that you would want to clear like; Journal, Batch, Transaction, Transaction_Entry, and several others depending on the data you do not need.  We normally do this by connecting Microsoft Access to the SQL server using an ODBC connection.  This way you can see what you have on each table and delete the data you do not need.  Feel free to contact me if you need more help doing this.

    Not exactly sure why you don't have them networked, but to answer your question try this from SO Administrator Help;

    Store Operations Administrator allows you to delete all the sales information in a database and leave the item information intact. This feature is especially useful if you have practiced running transactions at the POS but then want to prepare the database for actual store operations. You could simply remove all the "practice" transactions from the database and leave everything else in place.

    Important: Customer purchase history, purchase orders, and inventory transfers are also deleted when you delete transaction information from the database. Exercise caution whenever you delete transactions. Once transactions are deleted, they cannot be retrieved except by restoring from a previous backup. Even then, any transactions occurring since the last backup will be lost.

    To delete transactions

    1.       On the Database menu, click Select. The Select Database window appears and displays the databases that were previously created.

    2.       In the Name column, select the database whose transactions you want to remove, and then click OK.

    3.       When Store Operations displays the message that the database has been selected, click OK.

    4.       On the Database menu, click Delete Transactions.

    5.       When Store Operations asks you if you want to continue, click Yes to continue.

    6.       When Store Operations warns you again that you are about to delete all sales information, click Yes to continue. Store Operations will wipe out all sales history, including customer purchase history, plus purchase orders and inventory transfers.

    7.       When Store Operations notifies you that all the sales data has been deleted, click OK.

    Jeff, good suggestion! Much easier than my idea of erasing each table.
