D365 Mixed license plate number auto generation

Hi!

I receive materials from supplier directly on pallets. It is possible that on pallet only 1 item code is located and also it is possible that pallet contains multiple item codes. In first scenario system is capable to automatically create LP number which I can stick on pallet, but in case of mixed LP there is no such capability and I should input LP manually and this is incorrect as WH worker who do registration do not know what LP number he should give.

Any advice?

Hi, there,

First, try checking Warehouse Management > Setup > Mobile Device > Mobile Device Menu Items and look at the menu item that is being used for PO receiving. There is a setting called "License Plate Grouping Policy" that controls how license plates are created. Using "none" typically allows multiple items to be grouped onto one license plate.

If that is set to none, check the Work Template to see if there are any header breaks that would cause this.

@Encore Business Solutions I think Grouping License plate grouping policy is used for other things (mainly to define how to group same item on LP, for example to limit amount of items on LP and during receive process create several). My question is different. For regular registration Mobile device menu item there is a toggle "Create LP" and during registration system automatically generates it. But there is no such toggle for Mixed LP registration menu item.

Hi,

I fear it is not possible to auto generate license plate number in the mixed license plate receiving menu.

This is by design as the menu is designed to receive multiple mixed items on the same pallet received from vendor. The menu assumes that you already have existing license plates.

Main advantage of this menu is that it allows registration of all items shipped by vendor together and perform individual put away for each and every item if needed. This is one menu which allows for a work creation where there is one pick line and multiple put lines.

If you check the group put away you can do a consolidate put also for all the items and if group put away check mark is not checked in that case system will ask you to handle put of each and every item.

Microsoft Documentations also talks about the same.

You shared that in case license plate consist of only one item you are able to auto generate license plate. Can you share how? It starts with the screen 'Scan License plate'

@YD-01101305-0, there isn't an option to generate a license plate with the regular license plate number sequence in Mixed License Plate Receiving.

One option without customization would be for you to purchase or pre-print rolls of bar codes that can be used for the receiving process.

That is not possible in the case of mixed LP, and other alternative options do not fully meet your requirements. You can ask the developer to adopt the logic of the “Generate LP” functionality from the Purchase Item Receiving menu item.
