Tax by UOM by value (not percentage)

I have a need, for excise tax on fuel, to calculate the excise tax on the UOM (Gallons) and use a value rather than a percentage (e.g. diesel taxed at $.20/gallon.)

I understand this is also an issue for CBD dispensaries that have to post tax dollars by the ounce.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this? Client is too small for Avatax at this time.

I thought, given their limited distribution, I could utilize a Sales BOM concept, but that doesn't appear to help without significant production/routing configuration (client is not a manufacturer.)

Any suggestions appreciated.

    Rob,

This one very hard out-of-the-box since Sales Tax is % based but has maximum amount features, which will not help. I would recommend, given what you are trying to do, look at Avalara AvaTax to assist here:

    www.avalara.com/.../calculating-sales-and-excise-tax-on-the-same-invoice.html

They will calculate and post the correct Excise Tax for Fuel. This stays away from a customization/extension and you will be compliant for Sales/Use/Excise tax.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve
