Hi everybody,

I newly joined a company has GP 2013 . when I check current data , I found 200+ batches in batch recovery .

The problem is : most of these batches have other copies of them were entered and posted into the system .

Now I need to delete these batches without posting them again.

Thanks in advance.

RE: How to delete batches from batch recovery without posting them??

    Hi Ahmed

Wow! 200 batches sitting in batch recovery.

There are 2 ways to do this. One would be to let the batch recover and then delete it in the front end.  For this you would have to make an assumption that there is an error that is preventing the batch from posting and when you recover the batch, it will not post until the error is corrected.

In your case, you would just be deleting the batch.

The 2nd way would be to clear the tables using SQL commands.  To give you the correct SQL guidance, I would need to know which modules you are using as there are several tables for each module that you will have to make sure are cleared.

For which ever method you decide to use, you should make a good backup of the data before starting.

For the first method you should refer to this techknowledge:

    support.microsoft.com/.../a-batch-is-held-in-the-posting--receiving--busy--marked--locked--or-ed

Follow this techknowledge to release the batch.  You can then print the batch edit list to ensure that each transaction has indeed been posted.

If it has, then delete the batch.

    Hi Ahmed,

A lot of this depends on why it is in batch recovery. It should have a message next to it telling you why. For instance, if the error is Interrupted While Updating Table or Interrupted While Printing, the batch could have already posted but there is some information that didn't get cleaned up. If the message includes the words 'edit required' you should be able to clear it out of Batch Recovery and delete the batch.

OK, this looks like it posted once and it's trying to complete the posting but it cannot because there is already one there, hence the duplicate key error. At this point you need to do a little detective work. One method is to just use SQL and delete the specific batches, but that may leave some junk in other data tables, not the recommended method. What I think I would do is download a FREE search tool called ApexSQL Search from www.apexsql.com/Download.aspx (check out the other free tools while you're there) and search the database for GLTRX00192558. The journal entry number might be 421937, I'm not sure what order the keys are in, but you'll be able to tell once you pull up the entry. It might be as simple as deleting the extra entry, I imagine it is. You'll need to respond to each one of the batches in order to know exactly what to do.  Sometimes the entry will just finish posting, if you've already put in a replacement, then you will need to void or reverse the entry that just posted. As you can see, there are different reasons why it ended up in Batch Recovery, now you need to Sherlock Holmes each one of them. You'll see the pattern after you fix a few of them and they will be easier to solve.

    Good luck!

    Leslie
