Sequence 1 -> MICHEAL

Sequence 2 -> ANNA

Sequence 3 -> WILLIAM & PAUL For Sequence 3, the document should be released when either of the two people approves it.

How should the workflow be configured in this case?

Hi,

In the workflow configuration you have Pending approvals position:

You can try changing this to =1, this meaning that when approval goes to the final 2 approvers, when one of them approves, 1 remaining approval will be left and in the same time if will meet the approval requirements.

Sequence 1: MICHEAL (individual approver)

Sequence 2: ANNA (individual approver)

Sequence 3: Workflow User Group containing WILLIAM and PAUL (same sequence number) with "Approve the approval request for the record" response enabled.

Set Worflow user Group for Wiilan , Paul and set same sequence

Hi,
You can try below and check (not able to check completely as need 3-4 users with me, but I think it might work :)
Using a Workflow User Group with MICHAEL = 1, ANNA = 2, and WILLIAM = 3 / PAUL = 3 means the approval moves to Sequence 2 after Michael approves, then to Sequence 3 after Anna approves, and at Sequence 3 only one of William or Paul must approve for the document to be released. This is exactly how same‑sequence approvers work in standard Business Central

Hi,

You can navigate to Workflow User Groups, and add Workflow User Group Members with sequence number that you mentioned -

Then go to your Workflow -> add your workflow steps.

After that click on "Then Response" and change the Approver Type to Workflow User Group, and add your user group in the Workflow User Group Code field -

Hi,

You can configure this workflow using Workflow User Groups and the First to Approve response option:

Create three Workflow User Groups:

> Group 1: MICHEAL
> Group 2: ANNA
> Group 3: WILLIAM and PAUL

In the workflow steps:

> Sequence 1 → Assign Group 1
> Sequence 2 → Assign Group 2
> Sequence 3 → Assign Group 3 and set Approver Type to Workflow User Group and Response Type to First to Approve.

This way, the document should move to the next step after MICHEAL approves, then ANNA, and finally either WILLIAM or PAUL.
