Resource (employee) time captured against a work centre

Hi

I would like to book employee time against a work centre and machine to see their performance in the production line and to cost that work centre with their time.  Is that possible?

I have read to make the employee a machine - not sure if that will work - I have 10 work centre which they need to book time against any of the 10 work centre.

How can I capture time of employee against a production order please?

Thank you for your time.

If you truly need to segregate the machine and the employee then you may consider building your routes in parallel so that each operation will have 2 machine centers.  Inside of BC it will look like 2 operations being performed at the same time, but it will be tracking your employee's time and costs along with the time and costs for the machine center.  You will need some automation if you want the operator to only make 1 entry.  Otherwise they will have to record their time AND the machine center's time that was consumed by the production order.

    Hello,

Adding to what Josh replied... Yes, Machine Centers are the way to go and record their time during Output entry of Machine Centers and also if you move to Shop Floor (APP) time can be entered with Start and Stop abilities against the Production Order and compare Budget to Actual.

    Thanks,

    Steve

You could use machine centres instead. Depending on planning method you could add to the routing of the production order or have specific routings per employee. Any machine centre can be added as capacity used if you add it using the capacity journal.

Another plan could be to have a dimension which is code mandatory against the finished goods item. When posting a journal transaction it will error unless the dimension is assigned
