Exporting Trial Balance to Excel

I have a user where when she tries to export a Trial Balance it goes to Word. I am looking to see if there is a setup option, but I am not seeing anything.

With previous installations I don't remember choosing any specific options.

She is using Windiws 7 64 bit.

Which trial balance?  Report Writer or SSRS?

    Hi,

In the Print Receivables Statements window, pull up the Statement ID then click the Destination button.  Make sure that Standard is selected and not Templates.

My apologies, I went to view exactly what she was doing, because she can export from the Smartlist into Excel, she is trying to print a TB from Financial.

She goes to Reports>Trial Balance> enters the relative account number and date, she does not want to print to 'screen' or 'printer' but rather to 'file'.

She inputs location, and the 'type' as 'tab-delimited', the ouput is in Word.

I saw her change the 'type' to tab-delimited'.

    Hi Rosemary,

As Tristan stated in his reply, the template selection is for Word templates, and is not applicable for csv, tab, or other file outputs. On the print screen that pops up or in the destination settings, make sure Template is not selected in the Report Type dropdown. This should be set to Standard.

When I go to 'Report Destination',  there is no 'report type' option.

I am seeing 'detailed', and the options for 'screen',  'printer', or 'file'.

Just a stab in the dark, but make sure she does not have her tab delimted files associated with .docx or .doc file type...could have been she had opened a text file in word and set the default to always open in word.

Rosemary, are you sure the output is in Word?  Does Word open when she hits the Print button?  Normally, a tab delimited file would be saved in the location you select and you'd have a secondary step to open that file, normally using Excel.

Yes, I know, but the data is exporting into Word, it is coming up with a 'W'.

This is the first time I have seen this.

I am in the process of checking others in the same department with the same access, this the first time she is attempting this export maybe it is a setup option.

Tab delimited are text files.  I think KLEWIS has hit the nail on the head.
