How to share contacts between multiple sales people/users???

We operate in a team selling environment based on the products being sold. One salesperson will sell from one product line to a customer/contact, while another salesperson will sell from a different product line to the same account/contact.

Accounts/contacts have to have an owner. At this point the idea is to assign all contacts to either the person in charge of sales, i.e., the "VP of Sales" role, or the CEO, and allow all sales people rights to these contacts. This is intended to avoid any conflicts between the sales staff.

The downside of this is that we cannot assign activities on quick campaigns, etc., to the owner of the contact, as all activities would be assigned to management.

Has anyone else worked in a team environment similar to this? Does anyone have an idea on how to address this?

what you can do is to create a Parent business unit and then assign user to that. I might be able to help more if you can tell me the business units .

    Thanks

I don't think that's the correct direction. I have all the users assigned to the same business unit. My concern is with the ownership on the actual records. Some users have recommended that the manager have ownership of the records to avoid personnel conflicts, but then they will not be able to use the option of assigning tasks in a quick campaign to the owner of the account/contact.

Easy Solution. Go to the Account List View, select all the accounts you want to share or to whom you want to share. In the window's toolbar, select More Actions and then select Sharing. Choose the users or the team from the "Who would you like to Share this account With" dialog box. Select the security privileges you want to give to the users, save them by pressing OK. Let the fun begin!

A follow up question to this is how I can view all these contacts.

The "My active contacts" only lists the contacts I own and I can't search/create a view for contacts that I have access to.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

    TIA.

Does this affect actions based on record "owner" - i.e., assigning activities to owner?

Were you able to figure out how to view shared contacts?  I've shared Accounts and Contacts but no one is seems able to view them.

How do you do this programatically?  I need to share with multiple users but needs to be automated by workflow on certain field conditions.

Do you have an idea why the other user may not be able to see the contacts on their side after they are shared? I have gone in and done a mass share with complete access and they cannot see them. Do they have to accept the contacts?
