MS CRM Time zone is not working

Hello,

I’m using MS CRM 2016 online update 1 and currently I’m in EST time zone. But, I want to see the date & time in “IST” in my CRM instance so I changed the time zone from EST to IST (GMT+5.30) in the personal settings (Settings->Options->General Tab->TimeZone->GMT+5.30). But, even after changing the time zone to IST, all the date & time are still displaying in “EST”. is there any other way to control this?

Basically we want to see all the times in IST(GMT+5.30) for all the users in the application. Please suggest.

Regards

Gopi. R

    Hi
In CRM,  DateTime in the UI is always shown based on user’s local time zone. Please refer screen shot below.

Date time in UI display as IST-5.30 in UI, please see box

Yes I do, which is why I was wondering if the same thing happens to a field that is set to show both date and time. In a way, if you just show date it really doesn't matter what time is shown as long as the date is correct.

Please refer the last screenshot, You can see "Date & Time" in the tooltip.

    Hi,

You are just showing the date here, is the same thing happening to a datetime field for example on appointment?

    Hi Scott,

Thanks for the response. Attached screenshots below for reference.

The behavior of the datetime field is in "User Local".

    Personal-Settings.JPG

Time zone set in CRM personal settings is in IST.

My expectation is that the datetime field should display the value in IST since my timezone setting in CRM is in IST. But, it is still showing in my local machine time zone which is in EST.

Am I missing anything? Please suggest

Could you share a screenshot of what you mean?

The dates can be stored as either time zone aware or as just dates depending on the setting of the attribute. If the attribute is the default local time zone attribute (e.g. Appointments) then the date is converted to UTC when stored and then converted to the users time zone when displayed.
