Hi,

I have scenario where the CW qty of a serial controlled item for a specific serial number remain same while it's inventory qty needs to be adjusted.

Two questions:

1) Keen to seek other than completely issuing out inventory for the serial and bring it up all up again is there other technique available?

2) When does D365FO utilizes Catch Weight CW inventory posting accounts for loss and profit defined in inventory postings?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Rahul,

I don't have any good ideas for making a weight-only adjustment. The CW Loss/Profit accounts are used when your issue (e.g. Sales order pick) indicates that you had more (or less) weight of the item than F&O thought.

For example, you have Serial No. ABC123, 1 ea weighing 5.29 Kg in On-hand.

When you sell that 1 ea, you indicate that it weighed 5.50 Kg. AX posts the value of 0.21 Kg to the CW Profit account.

Oh, of course you could use a Count journal to make a weight only adjustment, but this will result in a posting to the inventory profit/loss account.

I was just looking at what you get if you are using CW with the WHS module. I have not tested any of this to see if it will help with your scenario, but some things sound like they might:

In 10.0.2, it became possible to capture the weight when doing an Inventory move. Maybe this will allow you to change the weight, whilst moving the item to the same location?!

In 10.0.3, it became possible to enter the weight during Cycle count processing
