Dynamics 365 on-premise user import for deleted Active Directory accounts

Hi,

I am doing a data import from one Dynamics 365 on-premise instance to another.  When importing the User records, some of them do not go in because their Active Directory account has since been deleted. This means Dynamics 365 cannot find their AD account and fails to import the User record.

Can I add these users directly to the Dynamics 365 database?  I know this will not be supported, but am interested if anyone has done this, or has experience doing it. I know that with the recent Dynamics 365 Online versions you can create stub users, however this is not possible on premise.

My only other option will be to create the missing Users as Contacts and remap everything, which will be a nightmare.

Thanks for any pointers!

If your user is not in Active directory then you can not create it in CRM.

Updating Users in Database is unsupported and it will not work at all.

Create users in AD again and add them in CRM.

    Hi

Any user account in CRM should be an AD account. You cannot create a non-AD account in CRM.

If you are importing everything from the original instance, you could consider backing up the SQL DB and restoring and importing the ORG. During the Org import, you can map the users to different users.

If importing Org is not going to work for you, you could consider removing the column altogether from the import file or write your own import script that could handle the scenario of the user not being the target instance.
