Sage 50 to Dynamics Migration

I have no idea if this is the correct place to ask this question, but we have all been searching for weeks for some clarify on a transition from sage 50 to business central.

Has anyone migrated from Sage 50 to business central, and if so what partner/software did you use for the migration of the data.  We are trying to find someone with experience with sage 50 so we do not have to reinvent the wheel with our wallet to get the data over and don't have to settle for only one year moving over.

As we use Microsoft with everything else we do in the company, issue tracking, lists, power apps for forms, policy issuance ect....  it would make sense to move to dynaics singe sage is a hot mess of a program right now, just it is very difficult to get a clear view on this is what you will lose, and this is the price to make it just as sage is now.  Price quotes are so all over the place that makes it very difficult to get a clear answer.

I have the same question (0)

RE: Sage 50 to Dynamics Migration

A lot of UK partners have experience with this migration. The thing any partner will put to you is it’s your data. So handling it is your responsibility unless it is paid for. The most cost effective method would most likely be hiring a contractor. Another option which is difficult to manage is placing an internal member of staff on this for some time. Extraction from Sage is one thing but the time will be spent transforming and then loading. For the transforming part you need some BC knowledge as there are quirks. If you want multiple years of history with every line that was posted you virtually have to do that again in the new system.

Any workshop I do has a session on this topic as it varies from project to project. The answer which seems to be reduced effort is a data warehouse. Means that your reporting strategy needs a review as you would typically need a more expensive solution. For example instead of Jet Reports you have Jet Analytics.

RE: Sage 50 to Dynamics Migration

    Hi,

We are a Microsoft Gold Partner with experience and expertise in moving our clients from Sage system to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

On Dynamics being the clear option, most of our clients switched as they saw the massive benefits of moving to the new system. The Microsoft ecosystem has powerful business applications that foster productivity and collaboration.

As for the migration, it depends on factors including the need for historical data, amount of data, integrations with different systems, number of business applications used, number of users, and so on. We make the transitions as smooth as possible with minimal downtime. Usually, the migration and implementation take less than three weeks on average, but it can go over that depending on the complexity.

Regarding the charge, we would only be able to quote a price after getting the details mentioned above. You can book a session with one of our experts free of charge who can advise you on the best action plan.

In hindsight, you can read more here if you want more information about the transition from Sage to Business Central.
