Dear Community Group,

I want to using Azure Storage for setup document attachments. I need a tutorial for this setup on D365 FO.

1. Users only access folder on Azure Storage for which they have permission.
2. User can view attached file on Azure storage or on D365

I have the same question (0)

The links aren't really relevant because it's not your storage; you don't have a direct access to it, therefore you can't change permissions, let users bypass F&O and browse all the files and so on. It's a storage included in your F&O environment and managed by Microsoft.

Also, Azure Storage doesn't mean files and folders. Blob storage is utilized for this purpose and it's not something users should work with directly.

The relevant documentation page is Configure document management. The FAQ section there may give you some answers, for example:

How can attachments be extracted from the system?
To extract attachments, an Attachments entity must be built for a specific business document or record.

Maybe SharePoint is more appropriate to what you need, or maybe you'll want to extract information about attachments and store their copies at a different place where users can browse them. You should find a way to generate meaningful file (or folder) names, otherwise it can still be pretty useless. For example, you may want to store all sales order attachment in a single folder and give files names based on Sales ID.

    Dear Martin,

Thank you for your advice. I will set up attachment files in the database instead of using Azure Storage. I have noticed that we can set up recovery for deleted files, and we can export attachment files from version 10.0.40.
