Dynamics CRM 2013 and O365 compatibility

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Our CRM person left. We run Dynamics 2013 in our data center. We would like to move our mail to O365. I am struggling to determine what I would need to change on the Dynamics side so it knows the new DNS name of our O365 mail server. The folks who use CRM have an Outlook CRM plug-in. I've logged into our CRM environment but can't figure out how the email part works. I basically need to figure out how to connect Dynamics 2013 (on-premise) to Exchange on-liner (O365). Regarding email setup on the CRM server side: I've looked at https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/ptsblog/2011/03/14/sending-e-mails-from-microsoft-dynamics-crm/ and https://kavsmscrm.wordpress.com/about/ but still don't see where I tell CRM "this is the name of my Exchange server."

    Hi Toberah,

If you are using Email Router for your incoming/outgoing mail server settings, that is the only place where you would have to make changes. If you were moving from Exchange On-Premise to Office 365, that is where the change would be.

    Hope this helps.

This article is for configuring Server-Side Synchronization, which apparently is not supported for Dynamics 2013 on-premise with Exchange on-line\O365 after further reading. As a result we use the Email Router Configuration Manager" option.

    Hi ,

This is good article you have found, go to second article where you can see "Configuring the CRM Email Router "section

Screenshot in point 6 mentioned the email server.

Open the email router and in general tab you can see the email server there.

    Hope this helps.

I logged onto one of our CRM 2013 servers and found the "Email Router Configuration Manager", is that the only place I would need to change the email server once we move to O365 (it currently has our on-premise Exchange server listed)?
