Can we use BC 1st version without going to the latest version?

Hi Community,

Suppose we have an old Navision license(For example Navision 2016 or Nav 2018) which we have not renewed the license.

Then now we want to change to Business Central.

1. Do we need to start paying all the updates for Business Central from the 1st updates to current latest?

2.  Or we can just use the 1st version of Business Central first, and update later?

The reason for some companies can be that, to update entirely to the current updates can be a hefty amount for small companies.

Thank you!

If you run on-prem you can update at your own pace, but if you are running Business Central in the cloud. Being updated to the latest version is mandatory.
When is the best option for financially I agree with the advice you got about discussing  this with a partner,

Is there any way to stop the minor/major upgrade??? Yes, but……

    Thanks.

Depends on how many Years You have not paid the yearly enhancement plan. If it is more than 5 years, then You can just buy a new license for the latest Business Central version and it will cost the same or less.

If it is less than 5 years - then You will have to pay the yearly cost for all those years, and then You can transform your licence to business central version. If You are going to SaaS - You might want to look into "Bridge to Cloud 2" program.

And anyway - Your MS partner should be able to clarify all the options You have now.
