Hi,
As the title states, I have been asked to transfer the license for Management Reporting Designer (formally FrX) to another user in our organisation but I cannot find a way to:
a) Install the designer software on a new machine
b) Transfer the license to the new user
Apparently we have purchased a single license that is assigned to a UserID.
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Jarrod, You're getting that error because your AD account hasn't been added to MR.
When you login as the previous Finance Director, do you see the Security tab as I highlighted in the picture above?
If so, then you should be able to add yourself as a user/administrator and administrate it under your name.

When I try to run Report Designer from the server I receive this error. From what you have mentioned above, I would assume that anyone could run it but if we only have one license, it would fail if someone was already running it. Correct?
From what I have been told (I was not involved with the installation as I came to the company later) everything is installed on the one server, Dynamics SL and the Management Reporting but I cannot find the settings that you mention. Our previous finance director was using the Report Designer without issue so I know it worked for her and if we log on with her old account we can run it but nobody else can.
I seem to be missing a piece of the puzzle and not knowing the product(s) is obviously part of it.

Hi Jarrod,
The license for MR is not assisgned to a user ID. The license is for your company. You should be able to look up your license keys on your account. The key is entered in MR, under the Tools | Registration window. Once the license is entered in MR, it will show the company name and the number of Admin and Designer users and Generator and Viewer users you are licensed for.
You open the Designer and there is a Security tab in the left column. The admin user would usually be the person doing the original install of MR. If you don't know who that was, go into the ManagementReporter database and query:
Select * from SecurityUser where RoleType = 5.
That will give you the admin user(s) who can login and get to the security screen in the Report Designer.

Thanks for the follow-up. I was going on what the finance people told me as I do not know a lot about this application so apologies if I have confused the situation with the FRx reference.
I have found the installation media so can install the Report Designer, but I cannot for the life of me see where to change the user. I have had a look through almost everything that looks like it might be related and I have full admin access to Dynamics SL so should be able to change the user if you can tell me where.

You can get the Report Designer software installed by selecting client from the install files.
Once the designer is installed, the administrative user can go into Security and add a new user and remove the old user.
If this doesn't get you headed in the right direction, maybe provide more detail as to what difficulties you are having with this.
(BTW, Management Reporter is not "formerly FRx." They are two different products. Are we actually trying to move an install of FRx or MR?)
