Address Search API

Hi

Has anyone done anything to put an API in the GP address screens that allows you to start typing an address and it goes out to find it as you are typing.  One of my clients has asked and they are using this product:  http://addressfinder.co.nz/  with their CRM system.

I am not a developer myself and wondered if this seems quite easy to bring into GP somehow.  Just after a relative "this should be able to be done" or "not possible" kind of indication at this stage.

Cheers

Heather

    Hi Heather,

It is similar to map point button in GP?

After typing the address detail(s) it automatically pop up to explorer?

Thanks for the reply.  It isn't like map point - it is actually more like the auto-fill field when you type in a Creditor ID in an entry window.  As you start typing an address in Address Line 1, it will go and find the address and start suggesting a list of options.  When you click on the list, it would then auto-populate the correct address lines in the software.

    Hi Heather,

Please check if my under standing is correct.

if i type One in Address1 field, it will show all the values related to one in the list box(values in GP company database) from which we can choose the correct Address1 field value?

    or

if we type One in Address1 field it will search in explorer & retrieve the related values from explorer to GP?

    Hi Heather,

I don't have direct experience with either add-on module, but there's two ISVs that I believe have what you're looking for, or at least show that it's possible to get the sort of address validation you described.

EASI Address Validation Tool and Accountable ZipAssist

As I understand it, EASI's tool calls out to USPS' API, while ZipAssist sends it's customers an updated address datafile every few months that is imported into the system..

    Hi Dan

Thanks for that feedback - those look really useful.  Both of them state working with US databases.  Based on what I see it seems that it can be done.

Natarajan - it is your second scenario.

    Cheers

    Heather
