Hi.

I'm looking at introducing Drawing Numbers (revisions) to my Item numbers.

Has anyone done this?

Do you have the Premium license which includes Manufacturing?  If so, you can use either the Routing or BOM versioning capability to track your Rev numbers.

If you have the Essentials license, you could use Description 2 or create a custom Revision field.

    Hi,

You can manage drawing numbers and revisions in Business Central by using the Item Cross Reference (Item reference) feature. Here's how you can set it up:

    1. Create a new item card for each item that requires a drawing number or revision.

    2. In the Item Cross Reference table, create a new entry for each drawing number or revision. In the Reference Type field, select the appropriate option based on your needs (e.g., Item, Vendor, Customer).

    3. In the Reference No. field, enter the drawing number or revision.

    4. In the Variant Code field, enter a code that corresponds to the drawing number or revision.

    5. Save the Item Cross Reference entry.

    6. Repeat the process for each drawing number or revision.

Once you have set up the Item Cross Reference entries, you can easily search for items by drawing number or revision using the Search function in Business Central. You can also use the information to create reports or other documents that require the drawing number or revision information.

Additionally, if you are using the Manufacturing module in Business Central, you can also associate the drawing number or revision with a specific production order, allowing you to track the use of each drawing number or revision in your manufacturing processes

    Thanks,
