Write-in's - Physical Inventory Journal

I would expect that I can just add a line to the Physical Inventory Journal in order to record a write-in item.

When I do, however, after entering the count, I get the error message: Phys. Inventory must be equal to 'Yes' in Item Journal Line:  Current value is 'No'.

I have added the field: Phys. Inventory (56, Boolean) and see the checkbox.  However, it is not an editable field - I cannot check the box.

How does one do a write-in for "found parts" during physical inventory?

Thank you!

To be able to do this during physical inventory you need to include items not in inventory when you run the calculate inventory process.

That will add items with 0 inventory to your journal

Or you can go to an Item journal a do a positive adjustment.

Thank you for your quick response! -- I did include items not in inventory.  This would be that "found" part where there is not even a qty on hand = 0.. the part didn't exist.. there is no line for it.  I need to add the line.

I am familiar with item journal positive adjustment.  But, Write-In's should be allowed - this is a normal physical inventory function/process as I have seen before?

If the part did not exist then you also have the option to include items with out transactions.  That will include even newly registered items.

Unfortunately write in has never been allowed in the standard system.  So to allow that you need to do a customization.

I find it safer to use the calculation - you can set filter there on just the item you are missing in the journal.

We probably would never use "include items with out transactions".. there would be so many extra rows to "count".  Probably best to just go ahead and use the Item Journal.
