Customer Yearly Summary Inquiry

Hi All,

I'm trying to create an excel report that summarized profitability by customer.  So far the closest information I can find would be the Customer Yearly Summary Inquiry.  From here I could run some calculations to figure profitability.  I'm new to Smartlist Builder & Excel Report Builder so forgive my ignorance.  Is this information stored in its own table, or is it pulled pieces from several different tables?  Or is there a better way for me to pull profitability by customer?  I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Joe

That information is pulled from several different tables into a temp table.  Some of the data is available directly from the Customer Master table.  I think that Profitability by Customer can be calculated with the data in the customer table or the customer summary table.  Take a look at those two.

We have a book called Customizing with the Builders that covers the two tools you mentioned as well as a discussion of the data base system.  Also, Information Flow and Posting will show you where your data is stored when.  Check out our web site.

    Joe,

If your sales to this customer come through SOP then you can get the information you need from the SOP history tables. They will show you the price you sold the items for along with your cost of inventory. Do you record sales through SOP, or directly in receivables?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Leslie,

We record it through SOP.  I ended up rebuilding the report using the sales transaction history table and compiled the summary information myself.  This was a much safer way since I know EXACTLY what calculations are being done and can drill down and verify all the information.  I initially thought using the period summary would be helping me and make life easier, in reality it just made things more difficult.
