OLE Container is empty

We are running GP 2010 R2.  Yesterday afternoon, users were moving files into the FileShare location prior to linking documents in Great Plains.  When they attempted to link the documents, they discovered that the OLE Container window was empty.   I have verified that the folder on the fileshare location does indeed have previously linked documents and new documents waiting to be linked to the Customer number.  The Dex.ini file has not been modified. The Active Directory permissions for the Fileshare location have not been changed.  What could cause the application to not see previously linked documents or documents waiting to be linked?

    RE: OLE Container is empty

    Hello Richard,

In the Dex.ini file, verify that the path to the OLE or notes directory looks something like this:

    \\UMFSRV01\GP_Shares\Notes\

We've seen cases in the past where users wouldn't see the OLE notes within Dynamics GP, even though they were present in the OLE or Notes directory, because the back-slash '\' wasn't at the end of the line in Dex.ini, pointing to the OLE notes directory location.

Even if it's local, the path would still be something like this:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2010\Data\OLE\

If you create a new OLE note, does it then show as expected?

    Thanks,
