Hello,

I am new to Power Automate. Please help me with the steps in achieving the below functionality:

I have a parent and child entities. When a child entity record is created, I would like to update  the child entity record owner same as Parent.  (Parent entity owner can either be a User or a Team).

Thanks!

If my understanding is correct Steps in Power Automate: Trigger: When a row is added

    • Use the trigger: When a row is added (Dataverse connector)
    • Table Name: Child

    2. Get Parent Record

    • Add the “Get a row by ID” step
    • Table Name: Parent
    • Row ID: Use the Parent lookup field from the Child trigger step

    3. Condition (optional): Owner type

    • You can check if the Owner (type) is systemuser or team if needed.
    • This is useful only if you want to do something different based on the owner type.

    4. Update Child Record

    • Use “Update a row” action
    • Table Name: Child
    • Row ID: Child record ID from trigger
    • Set: Owner (Value): Use Owner (Value) from the Parent record
Important: Make sure you set Owner (Value) and Owner (Type) correctly if your schema uses polymorphic lookup (owner can be either a user or a team).

    Hi,

I am a bit confused about child and parent entities...maybe its just me with my lack of knowledge...

Could you share some insights\specifics about which child and parent entity you would like to update and which fields?

    Kind regards, Adis
