What is the best method to handle blanket sales orders?

For an example, a customer orders 1,000 pieces and would like the 1,000 pieces delivered each month for the next 6 months. How can we go about doing this? And is it possible for the inventory not to be taken right away for the other pieces?

Enter a Sales Order like you normally would, allocate and fulfill the monthly amount each month, back order the balance and invoice the quantity fulfilled. You can choose to not allocate the original order quantity until you're ready to ship. Repeat until the 'blanket' quantity has been completely invoiced.
