How to keep track of individual items sold within an assembled item?

Posted on by 73
Hi there,

I have an assembled item /Conference pack/, which represents a table and 6 chairs, like the item 1929-W in Cronus example.
I have a serial number required for each individual item and also for the assembled item.
When I sell two /Conference pack/ items with the serial numbers /SN-P1/ and /SN-P2/, in the item ledger entries I can retrieve the serial numbers of the two tables and the 12 chairs but I cannot find a way to know that the first table and the first 6 chairs have been sold as part of the first pack /SN-P1/ and the others as part of the 2nd pack /SN-P2/.

Is there a way to configure Business Central to keep track of this association? And how to retrieve it afterward?

Thanks in advance.

You would need to register Assembly orders for each finished product quantity separately to be able to achieve this.
Otherwise You can only see that 2 Conference packs were created, by using those 12 chairs, but You cannot tell which chair was added to which conference pack.
