Journal Entry Approval Workflow for Reversing Entries

Hi:

We have a journal entry batch approval workflow that is working perfectly.

But, we noticed that no approval is required for posting reversing entries.

Do reversing entries require an additional approval workflow to be in place?

Thanks!

John

    Hi Johnellis2019,

not sure if it's what you are asking for, but when you reverse a transaction/reverse register, what is used behind is not the General Journal, but the Reverse Entries Page (179)

That's why the Workflow is not working here.

    I hope it helps,

Workflow in recurring general journal is not working. Currently, WOrkflows can only be actvated to General, Payment and Cash Receipt Temaples.

Actually, I'm talking about Reversing Entries - not Recurring Entries.  I already know that workflow for Recurring Entries does not work.

No standard workflow for reversing entries.

Create manual journal instead of using the Reverse ransaction for you to have the workflow.

then,  hide the Reverse transaction function on the ledger entries on the User Profile.

You can modify the template for the Journal Entry Line approval workflow to say "Yes" for Reversing Entries.  This is shown in the screenshot below.

    But, this doesn't work?

No, that is just for the general journal line table and not referring to the reverse transaction function.

Given the constraints with standard a compromise will be needed here. If the main reason for needing it is that certain personnel cannot reverse without verification from someone more senior, a work around could be used, much like John Ray Patajo has stated.

The other would be a change in process. It is now possible to store journals that were posted and you can then copy those back into a journal, potentially for reversal. This would make it a legitimate journal posting once again. So the trap point of the approval workflow comes back into play.

Details in the new feature: docs.microsoft.com/.../use-copy-journal-function-general-journals-gl-registers-when-reversing-entries

    Thank you, both!
