Publish is greyed out in edit in excel for Assembly Lines

Hi there,

I need to add variant codes to a very big order, so wanted to bulk add to assembly lines but publish is greyed out? Does anyone know why it would be? I am listed as a Business Manager in Settings so it shouldn't be a permissions issue, I had to filter the results by Document Type before exporting as it exceeded the excel limit.

Hope someone can assist 🙏🏻

Kind regards

Kelly

Publish is greyed out in edit in excel for Assembly Lines
Option 1: Excel Data Connector (Publish Greyed Out)
     Root Causes:
    • Missing system fields (e.g., SystemId, RowId)
    • Read-only page or table
    • Disconnected session context
    • Page not exposed via OData V4
    • Role permissions not sufficient for write-back
     Fixes:
    • Use Edit in Excel directly from the Assembly Lines page
    • Ensure all required fields are present
    • Reconnect the Data Connector
    • Confirm page supports write-back and is editable

Option 2: Configuration Package (Recommended for Bulk Updates)
    Steps:
    1. Create a Configuration Package
      • Go to Configuration Packages in BC
      • Create a new package and add the Assembly Line table (ID: 900 or custom if extended)
    2. Select Fields
      • Include fields like:
        • Document No.
        • Line No.
        • Variant Code
        • Any other required fields
    3. Export to Excel
      • Use Export to Excel to get the template
      • Fill in your variant codes and other data
    4. Import and Apply
      • Use Import from Excel
      • Run Apply Package to commit changes
      • Optionally run Validate Package before applying
    Notes:
    • Ensure no duplicate keys or missing mandatory fields
    • You can preview changes before applying
    • Works even if Excel connector fails

Note: This response was created in collaboration with Microsoft Copilot to ensure clarity and completeness. I hope it helps to some extent.
