Managing Partial Sales Orders from Sales Quotes in D365 Business Central

Hi all,

I have a scenario where I create a sales quote in D365 with 5 line items. However, when I receive an order confirmation, only 2 line items are confirmed. I need to know how to manage this situation where a partial sales order is created from a sales quote.

Could someone guide me on how to handle partial sales orders within the system, ensuring that the remaining items from the quote remain open.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Sales Quotes do not have standard functionality for partial creation of orders, since Sales quote is used for short-term or one-time offers, as it have a Blanket Sales Order document, which is a document that is used for long-term agreements with a customer.

You may use the copy document functionality to copy your sales quote for part-to-part making orders from the sales quote, or you could start using Blanket Sales Orders for agreements where you will have a need for partial orders.

    Greetings

As stated, there is no out-of-the-box solution to address the entirety of your request.  However, you can archive the Quote prior to removing the extra lines, then create your Sales Order.  You now have a copy of the Quote you can recreate should the Customer come back and order the remaining product.

The other option is to write an Extension, fairly simple, where you add a "Disposition" or "Make Order" field on the Sales Lines.  Then update the "Make Order" process to only create the Sales Order with the fields that have been selected by the Customer.  Your extension could leave the Sales Quote intact after the "Make Order" process has run.

If you don't have a developer on staff, you should be able to reach out to your BC Partner to get an estimate on the Extension.

    Hi,

According to your business scenario, Use "Blanket sales order" functionality of business central:

    1. Create new Blanket Sales order with 5 lines and make order of 2 lines by filling "Qty to ship" and click on button "Make Order"
    2. Sales Order created with 2 lines and it is also linked with blanket sales order
    3. You repeat creating separate sales orders once items confirmed from client.

I hope this will help you work your scenario in business central.

    Thanks,
