Dynamics BC: Create Customer by Contact with Contact Type Person (over the Costomer Card)

Hi there,

If i'm using the function Create as Customer with Contact Type Person (over the Contact Card), then the system will allow this and create a dataset in the table Contact Business Relation.
In this case the table relation will break for the field contact no. (Type = company).
If i'm trying this with an vendor, then i will get the error, that the company no. must be filled, what is what i'm expected.
In my opinion only a contact with type company should be linked with a customer or vendor.

So is this maybe a bug in NAV/ BC Standard?

Thanks for your opinions...

Hi, I did a simple test. A contact can be associated with both vendor and customer at the same time. In Business Relation, it will show Multiple
    My test Version: W1 26.1 (Platform 26.0.33922.0 + Application 26.1.33404.34053)

    Thanks.

Hi, thanks for you answer, but you tried it with a contact with type company and not with type person!

Yes, you can create both a customer and a vendor from the same contact in Dynamics Business Central. This means one contact can be linked to both, and the system will show "Multiple" in the Business Relations field.

    Hi,

yes that's right, but it's not my question.

    1. Create a new Contact with Type PERSON (not Company!)
    2. Use the function Create as Customer on the Contact Card
    3. You will have a business Relation between a Contact::Person with a Customer, what is not correct, because only a Contact with Type Company should linked with an cusomer, right?
