Creating cases that contain screenshots

We just started our Dynamics CRM demo today and there is one key feature we are looking for -- the ability to simply paste in a screenshot from the snipping tool.

Currently we just use e-mail haphazardly for taking care of cases but one of the things that we love about e-mail is when writing up an issue, we can easily paste screenshots of the problems inline.

Again, we are just starting this demo but it looks like when you create a new case, you can't paste in a screenshot. Is there any way to customize this and allow for it?

Sorry if this is a really basic question. We are trying dozens of different CRMs/Case Management applications trying to see which best fits which makes it a bit harder to drill down to a feature if it isn't just right there.

You can't paste images on any box in CRM but there are some xml boxes in CRM that allow you to paste images, for example, the section to compose email templates allows this as well as the section included within Knowledge Base Articles.

If you need to show an image within a case, my advise is to deploy a solution that allows you to upload images within the case itself...there are several free ones out there.

    Would that suffice?

It may sufice but I need an example. We need to be able to do images both inline (starting a case) and as we work a case. So when you say "deploy a solution" -- what solution?

    Something like this one:

    mscrmblogger.com/.../crm-attachment-image-for-crm-2011-entities

That looks good as an attachment tool (like in the example, a picture of a client to go with the name, etc) but going through the documentation it doesn't look like that works for inline attachments (key also being attachments -- most tickets would have multiple screenshots along for the ride). And this goes both ways - when people are submitting tickets and when people are replying to the tickets.

    Sean,

There are some solutions out there based on Silverlight that allow multiple images and attachments.

    Check this one out:

That is some really cool code but that isn't at all what I'm talking about.

I'm just talking about a way to do tickets with a rich text editor that allows you to just paste images inline.

http://community.dynamics.com/product/crm/crmtechnical/b/crmbusiness/archive/2012/01/24/crm-2011-free-productivity-pack-from-adxstudio.aspx looked promising but the link is dead.

I really do appreciate your time in replying to these posts.

    Sean,

Maybe you can look into something like this:

    codemuse.wordpress.com/.../rich-text-editor-in-dynamics-crm-2011

    Gus,

That codemuse solution looks really close. CKEditor does allow for inline images so I'd love to give that a go. I've spent the last week and a half getting more familiar with the other aspects of Dynamics CRM so I'm backed to this issue at hand.

Following the instructions I was able to add the iFrame to the form but when I get to "Next, I need to move data..." part I see he has two function but nowhere does it say where to add the functions.

The other instructions are a bit fuzzy from there. I replied on his blog asking for clarification but if anyone here sees any way to clarify those steps, I'd appreciate it.

I also sent off an email to ADXStudio to see if they still have that powerpak available somewhere.

Gus, thanks again for your suggestion of the CEditor. I was able to get the editor to work and it does allow rich text editing. However, it doesn't allow the pasting of images (it would let you do an <img src=> type thing but that does us no good.

So I'm still open to suggestions.
