How to check if connections are being used in Workflows or reports?

I have  request to remove a bunch of connections out of CRM 2016, but first I want to ensure they are not being used in workflows or reports.  Is there a way to do this instead of going one by one through the workflows and reports?

Thank you.

    Hi There,

I doubt that - because these just some "records" in dynamics CRM at the end of the day.

There wont be any way of finding if they are being referenced in a workflow or report ( hardcoded) - until others have any suggestion otherwise ofcourse.

Ok, thank you.  One more thing...How can I do the following:  "Please prepopulate the Related Account field when opening a Connection record with the applicable Account."?

    Hi ,

Okay , i think you are probably being asked to prep populate a field from account record associated on a connection record.  Probably a matter of create a calculated field or a web API request.

    1. try to understand what field they need from the account on the connection.

    2. create a calculated field of same type on the connection form and try get the required field from account lookup on the connection.: passion4dynamics.com/.../how-to-get-value-from-a-look-or-other-related-entity-using-calculated-field-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm

    3. if above works fine, otherwise use a webapi request : community.dynamics.com/.../get-lookup-value-from-other-entity-and-set-it-on-the-form-using-web-api-in-microsoft-dynamics-crm

you can use rest builder tool for creating these kind of request.

So I tried  step 1, and it isn't working for me.  I create a test field, made it a text field, and calculated.

When I am on the account screen and make a new connection, it doesn't fill in my Test field with the account name

    What am I missing?

    Hi,

So as soon as you load a new connection form - it should have one lookup where you will have connected from field autopopulated which will have account using which you have to retrieve ( now sure how your form is designed).

in short the loolkup field value has to be there from which you are taking the field.

1007.New-connection.pngThis is the field that I want to auto populate when I go from Account to connection and create a new connection.  Can this be done?
