Dear

i have activated the posting number in GP 2013 in order to have a unique Number when i use the Recurring batch and the Deferral transactions, but i have no way of searching for transactions by Posting Numbers, (except from the smart list )why is that ?

I want to be able to search for transaction by posting number from the Journal Entry Inquiry, any advice ?

No option available in GP. You can achieve this by creating a Dexterity/VBA customization.

Note: VBA is not support in GP 2013 web client.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hi Abdo,

While I can't help with answering 'why' gp didn't provide an inquiry for searching by posting number, they did provide SmartList (as you noted), as well as an office data connection that you can access by deploying the integrated Excel Reports. The field is in the TWO AccountTransactions.odc.

Additionally, you can build your own Report using the AccountTransactions view for your company database. Actually, I think the Excel option is a better one because you can use the rich filtering features of Excel. If you wanted to keep everything within the GP user interface, a custom Report Writer report would be very easy to create.

If you have NavigationList Builder, that would be a better user interface tool because you can put an unlimited number of filters on it and add whatever actions you choose.

So, you really do have options to use, just not a Dexterity based lookup window. There are many other fields we cannot search on using native windows, but we do have features to use other than inquiry windows.

I'd be happy to help you develop something using any of these other options.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
