Comments -- Sales Orders and Production Orders

Posted on by 3,482

Hi:

In order for the manufacturing department to review special instructions from those in sales, is it possible to enter such instructions perhaps as comments in the Sales Order and have them appear on the resulting Released Production Order?

Thanks!

John

You need to customized it according to your requirement. In standrd it is not available as of now.

    Not in standard.

You will need to do customisation to copy comments from Sales Order to Production Order or the ability to open Sales Order comment from Production Order.

    Hi John

That is not possible and require development. We had the same need and without development this is what we did

We asked CS team (who enter SO) to create production order anytime special instruction required. We asked them to type that in Work Description of SO or comment under each line. Then asked them to add the link to SO in production order. Something like below. Then MFG person was able to go to SO and review notes. Or print SO confirmation or pick ticket and attached to work traveler (Job Card)

Of course with development you have many different options such as printing those comments into Job Card.

I think other people have answered this that it is not out of the box.

Most likely it would be easiest to do this (if you don't want to get a developer) with a Power Automate and a Flow.  I am not a super expert with flows so I'm not 100% sure if they work with comments at this time or not.  If they do, that would be the way to make it happen without AL customizations.

Does anyone know if a Flow can copy and paste comments?

    Hi

Analyzing the code, I don't see that the comments are reported in the order of production

surely the function that creates the production orders contains many events that will allow you to customize according to your needs

the reference CU is 99000792 "Create Prod. Order from Sale"

check my answer if it helped you, thanks

Hi, There is indeed a Comments function on SO, but I'm not sure if this is related to Production Order.
If not, this may require customization.
