Considering we are a German company, I also need to procure the Indian localization license. Can my German Microsoft partner purchase the Indian localization license on my behalf?
I have the same question (0)

Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on your location :)
    Hope you are well today!

Yes, your German Microsoft partner can help you obtain the Indian localization license, but there are a few important details to consider depending on whether you're using Business Central SaaS or On-Premises:

    Key Points
    1. Localization Strategy
Microsoft uses a hybrid localization model:
    • Microsoft-led localizations: Available for countries like India and Germany.
    • Partner-led localizations: For countries not directly supported by Microsoft, partners provide localization apps [1].
    2. SaaS (Cloud) Version
If you're using Business Central SaaS:
    • You can create a separate environment for India.
    • Your German partner can provision this environment and install the Indian localization.
    • The Indian localization is included in the base license for India, so no separate license is needed—just the correct environment setup [2].
    3. On-Premises Version
If you're using Business Central On-Premises:
    • You must download and install the Indian localized version of Business Central.
    • Each localization (e.g., DE, IN) has its own BaseApp and object range, so you may need a separate license for the Indian localization [2].
    • Your German partner can coordinate with a Microsoft partner in India or purchase the Indian localization license on your behalf, depending on their partner tier and regional agreements.

    Recommendation
    • Confirm your deployment model (SaaS vs. On-Prem).
    • If SaaS: Ask your German partner to create an Indian environment and enable the localization.
    • If On-Prem: Your partner may need to collaborate with an Indian partner or procure the Indian license through Microsoft’s regional licensing channels.

There are no issues with the license, but as of now, a BC environment can only contain one localization pack.
For example, if you create a German environment, this environment includes German localization. If you need Indian localization, you need to create a new Indian environment.
It is important to note that localization cannot be differentiated between companies.

Hope this can give you some hints as well.
    Thanks.

The ability to purchase licenses depends entirely on your Microsoft Partner. If your Partner has a global agreement with Microsoft or is authorized to sell licenses in specific countries, including India—either directly or through a Reseller agreement for Indian localizations—they can place the license order for you.

If they are not authorized to sell in a specific region, they can still coordinate with a local Microsoft Partner to procure the licenses on your behalf.

Note: The availability of different localization environments is not dependent on the license itself. You can create sandbox environments for various localizations (e.g., India, US, etc.), even if your production environment is set to a different localization such as Germany.
