Freebie View Script To Rename BC Tables and Columns

Hi All,
Not a question but just letting BC people know.
We have released a /freebie/ for Business Central installed accounts if you would like it.
This is a script to create views that rename of all the tables and columns in 2023 wave 2.
The views simply make it easier to write /direct query/ sql against the underlying tables for on premise installs.
It will help companies that have direct query against the underlying Business Central database to save time and money.
The use of this script would typically be for BI/Reporting on BC, so I thought this was a good place to announce this for the BC community.
If anyone wants to pass these links around that would be much appreciated.
This is a genuine freebie. We are not asking for anyones email address to download the create views file.
You are all welcome. :-)

You can download the script directly from this link.
https://bida.ro/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/99-Business-Central-Table-Column-Aliases-01.zip

You can read (or listen to) the blog post describing it on this link.
https://bida.ro/2024/02/24/bida0042-business-central-tables-and-columns-rename-script/

If anyone wants the same for Navision? Please let us know.
We have decided to not go ahead with our planned Navision 2018 products in favour of just jumping to the current Business Central release.
I have the same question (0)

Hi, I suggest you share this information to the Community blog, as I personally think it would be more effective.

    Thanks.

     Hi YUN ZHU ,

    thank you for the tip.

We are new to these forums and we don't want to "over step the bounds" of talking about what we will be selling in the future.

We have been doing BI on Navision for a long time and we will be bringing out a BC product.

So we will give away some really useful freebies and those who use them we will let them know what else we have.

Then people can just politely say they are not interested in what else we have. :-)

    Best Regards

    Peter

    Hi Judy ,

    Thanks for your comment.

We are new to the BC area as we have been working on Nav for years.

On Nav we created staging areas and people could query the staging areas with the new names.

We also did Nav data warehouses.

Now we are going to do BC data warehouses but we don't have a signed up customer at the moment.

We are presuming that there are plenty of people with BC on premise who want to do direct query against the underlying tables.

I mean, direct query on the underlying tables is that much harder in BC, why wouldn't people want to make that a little easier?

Once we get some production BC hands on experience I guess we will see what people are actually doing.

We will also browse through these forums because questions people ask show what they are doing.

    Best Regards

    Peter

    Hi YUN ZHU ,

I went over to community blogs and it does not appear that I can create a blog entry.

There is only a button for "Post a question" rather like here for me.

Perhaps as a newbie I am not "qualified" to post blogs yet.

But that is a great source of blog entries and I will look through them for the area of BI etc.

    Thank you for the pointer!

    Best Regards

    Peter
