Hi All,

I have an issue where we brought in the opening balances of fixed assets on 31/12/21.

We also did an acquisitions on 13/04/22. When we try to calculate depreciation as at 31/01/21 we get no GL entries.

The issue is experienced is also same as below.

You can get around what Gavin details by posting your Purchase Invoice to a GL account for WIP/CIP and then use an FA/GL journal to move the dollars for the GL WIP/CIP account to the asset using whatever posting date you desire. However, this only works for the current fiscal year.

Another option would be to setup a new FA record and link it to your old FA record using the Main Asset/Component Asset tools

    Hi,

The issue you are encountering sounds like the one detailed in the attached blog titled "Fixed Asset Traps and How to Avoid Them".

    https://dynamics-consultants.co.uk/blog/posts/2016/june/fixed-asset-traps-and-how-to-avoid-them/

This is the specific section I'm referring to:

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

    Gavin

I've done many, many fixed asset integrations and never had the issue that you are experiencing. My gut feel is that some was populated incorrectly or not populated. I've seen very often that too many fields in the FA ledger are forced which causes issues.

    Hi,

The posting date and FA posting date are the same.

We had not calculated depreciation since then and have done an acquisition also

    RE: Fixed Asset Depreciation issue

    Hi,

When you post the Fixed asset acquisition entries on 31st December 2021 what was posting date was it different or 31st December 2021?

if you have posted the Acquisition entries that is the posting date is on 31st December 2021.

then you must calculate depreciation on 31st January 2022.
