Updating field on released document through code

Hi All

I have created a new field on the purchase header table, and now I want to update the field through a code unit triggered via a job queue. Is there any data integrity issues by directly updating fields on a released document? Looking for advice on if certain inserts/updates are not allowed or not recommended

    In this scenario if the field is controlled by code and the user has a controlled influence you’re set. There are instances where altering a posted document is ok. Like a posted sales shipment. You can add the tracking number once created.

    Is there any documentation on which fields we can update (via code) on posted documents as it seems a bit risky to update posted documents and may have issues on upgrade time

    Hi Samantha,

    If there is a need to update posted documents you could refer to the code unit where there is a forcible way to update the posted tables 1405 "Purch. Inv. Header - Edit".
