Can anyone recommend a way to print off barcodes in bulk for Business central Item numbers (code 128 format) preferably a free resource. I have tried a few online sources but with limited success.

There are two options I can think of - use out of the box features or use an ISV app.

1. Using out of the box resources - Adding barcodes to reports - Business Central | Microsoft Learn - you would need a developer to create a report that you can print. Details at that link. This is a bit more work than approach 2.

2. There is a free app you can use to generate barcodes from insight works. I recommend using this app here: Barcode Generator - I recommend this approach. You may need a partner/power user who can modify the barcode layout to change the barcode label to be code 128 format.

Hello,

Simplest free approach: export your items from Business Central to Excel, install a free Code128 font like Libre Barcode 128, wrap item numbers properly (or use the “Text” version of the font to handle encoding automatically), then print via Word mail merge or directly from Excel as labels; alternatively, create a small BC report and apply the barcode font to the Item No. field for cleaner bulk printing—this avoids unreliable online generators and gives you full control over layout and scaling.
