How can I create multiple invoices from 1 sales order in Dynamics GP 10.00

I need to create a sales order that is capable of being invoiced more than once. I have 10 items on a sales order and they need to be invoices 1 every month for the next 12 months. Instead of creating a new sales order and linking it to a PO every month, can I create a sales order with quantity 12, link it to a PO for quantity 12, and invoices the sales order for quantity 1 every month? Essentially, I know that we are able to receive 1 item at a time on a PO, and the PO will become a historic record only after all of the quantities on it have been received, and want to duplicate that same process with a sales order. If anyone knows the solutions, your help is greatly appreciated!

Ivan

    1.  You MUST use Separate Fulfillment in the Order Document Type definitions.

    2.  Fulfill the one item on the order to be billed this month.

    3.  Transfer the order to an invoice.  Only the fulfilled item will be transferred, the remaining will stay on the order to be invoiced/fulfilled later.

If you are using Advanced Distribution and Fulfillment Orders, there is a separate process when items due to ship on or before a specific date can be transferred from the order (without being fulfilled) to a Fulfillment Order where the document is fulfilled and invoiced.

These processes are discussed in detail in our book Understanding Sales Order Processing.  Check out this book from our library.

Thanks Richard! That was the process I had discovered at the time I was faced with the problem but wanted to check if there were any other solutions.
