miscellaneous processing error

Posted on by 155

I started getting the following error on MS Dynamics POS 2009

"A problem occurred during payment processing verification.

Details:
96: Miscellaneous Processing Error"

It does this on all cards. Worked fine before and no outages, crashes, installations or other events occured between then and now. Any ideas on what might be going on and a possible fix??

Thanks!!

    Hey Clint,

You're exactly right. The account was deactivated. Now I've got another issue (clearing old pending settlements), but I'll post that in a new thread. MS support really helped with the last issue. Shout out to Shawn Meade for excellent support!!!

    Hello!

I have had some experience with this error and everythime it has occurred because the First Data Account had been deactivated. I would contact First Data again to make sure.

I have to refer you to Microsoft.  I havent seen this error with out the use of an Ingenico or pinpad device.  So I am out of ideas.

Please let us know what fixed the issue.  That way the next person can save the pain.

    Re: miscellaneous processing error

Sorry for the delay in posting an update on this. Did a remote session with First Data to verify settings. In the end, they couldn't find anything wrong and referred back to MS. We're no longer on contract so now it would be pay per incident. I'm not opposed to that, but it would be nice to figure it out myself without having to pay the $175. Any more ideas to try?

    Re: miscellaneous processing error

Tried disabling and enabling the addins, but no change. I couldn't get to this until after business hours, so I'll have to call First Data tomorrow to verify account status.

I looked and saw we're using SP1. I'll update this thread once I've spoken with FDMS.

    Thanks again Ed.

    Re: miscellaneous processing error

all the settings are stored in the database so they dont have to be re-entered.

Also make sure the processor still has your account active.  I have seen this happen with FDMS before.

Also it would help to know what version of pos you are on.  Microsoft has released to updates to the software in the past 2 years.  SP1 and FP1, (FP1 just came out last month)

    Thanks

    Re: miscellaneous processing error

    Thanks for responding Ed!

We're using First Data for processing and do not have a customer facing payment device. Everything is swiped through the register card reader. Internet is working...that was the first thing I checked.

I'll try what you've suggested today. When I disable and re-enable, will I have to reenter the settings or should they still be there?

    Re: miscellaneous processing error

Disable the Credit Card processor addins.  Save the settings restart the POS.  Then re-enable the processor addins and restart.

Manager view -> Settings -> Addin Settings

It would help to know if you are using the Microsoft Online processing , FDMS (First Data), or Tsys addin.

Also do you have a customer facing payment device? Like an Ingenico.

Make sure your internet works, And then call the merchant services processor and check your account.

    Hope this helps.
