Hi all:

I see this icon from time to time in a record's Audit History; what does it represent, and what can I do to either by-pass it or fix it?

In audit history when lookup values gets updated it shows the entity icon. For example when you update primary contact in account record and if audit is enabled for the Primary contact field when you open audit history it will show contact Icon with name of the lookup record. When click on the icon it will take you to the actual contact record. But i never seen any icons displayed next to address fields in the autdit history. YOu can ignore this and its not going to affect any system functionality.

    Thanks, Chitra:

The issue is that the icon does nothing; in some cases, all of the audit history (especially the Create event) is nothing but these icons and clicking them has no affect nor allows me to see the actual data.

Probably your browser zoom level is too low to show the content, thats why system shows content within the textbox with scroll bars. Check your browser zoom level and set it to 100% then check the behavior.

    Hi Robert,

This usually means that the Auditing feature was disabled or someone removed the auditing data.

You may also see something like this

Please have a look into these articles for more details

    Hope this helps

    Thanks

Auditing was turned off and back on for those fields, or the entity, or the system as a whole.

This does not answer the question, it is misleading, and just re-states the question.

"You can ignore this" simply is not correct, and is bad practice, as it is displayed for a specific reason. The reason being that the audit history, during the time that audit change occurred, was turned off, either for that field or for all fields in general.

Unfortunately in IE11 you cannot view the image alternate text for this icon, however, when you look at it in the F12 browser, or in a good browser, you will see the following alt text:

Auditing was stopped and restarted. The new values for the fields that changed during this period cannot be identified or recorded.

If this is occurring spontaneously, the likely reasons are:

    1. You ran out of disk space and auditing turned off. (https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/162312)
    2. You turned auditing off and then back on in the CRM web interface.  (As above)
    3. You were editing the XML or using code to edit IsAuditEnabled (See: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg334236.aspx)
    4. If you are importing solutions for your CRM and the properties on your entities are different (i.e. Field x in solution has audit off, field x before solution has audit on.)

    Hi,

Can we avoid blank entries in Audit History. out of 10 fields i have only 4 fields are marked for Audit. I am getting an empty/blank entry in Audit history when i make changes to other 6 fields only (without changing from 4 Audit fields). B'coz of this there are so many empty unwanted entries.

Does anyone know how turn the Audit back on for these entities?
