I have a workflow that executes on account record creation and populates a custom field. I have made it an on demand workflow and i run it by selecting existing account records, but the custom fields don't get updated for pre-existing account records?

Am i missing some trigger?

The "trigger" should just be manually firing the workflow.

If you checked the box on your workflow to keep jobs, you can check the System Jobs under Settings to see if your workflow is encountering an error.

Hi

is it only some accounts or for all?

Did you try running the workflow for one account?

Check if you have any conditions in the workflow before update of the accounts which is avoiding the update on the accounts.

Up to my knowledge you need to check the conditions. Other wise, check the system jobs you will come to the steps that were executed.

The workflow is not firing at all. it is set to run on create of a record as well as on demand.

I don't know what other conditions are there for the workflow to fire. It does fire on a create of a record, just not on-demand.
