How to customizations in Dynamics 365, Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM, Dynamics NAV

Posted on by 44

I am a newbie in Dynamics. I have a requirement for some customizations in the Dynamics products.

 The customizations like

  • Integrate with our systems
  • Extension on Sales or Quote related table
  • UI related changes in Sales/Quote modules

My customers use different products like Dynamics Business Central 365, Dynamics Sales, Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM & Dynamics NAV. My challenge is, How to build a single extension or App to address different products like Dynamics Business Central 365, Dynamics Sales, Dynamics AX, Dynamics CRM & Dynamics NAV?

I appreciate any help in this matter.

Thank you Wahaj Rashid for your quick response.

It's really helpful for me to go further with my requirement.

Can you provide more details or tutorials or Links on "How to build your custom solution and then build connectors to talk with the above solutions (using APIs) ?".

    Hi,

    Thank you for your query.

All the products you mentioned are different technology stacks, it is not possible to build one solution (app) that works on all.

    For your reference:

    • Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CRM) is based on Power Apps Model Driven Apps (latest versions, older on XRM Platform). You build your solutions on XRM platform and use C# .Net for extensions.
    • Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (AX) is built on X++ language.
    • Dynamics 365 Business Central (NAV): you need to work on AL programming language.

In short, all of above are different technology stacks, even the architecture varies.

Your only solution is to build your custom solution (in a technology you are comfortable with) and then build connectors to talk with above solutions (using APIs).
