Is it possible to either change the "Name" field of an Opportunity to be a calculated text field or change what field is displayed as the Opportunity "Name" at the top of a record?

Hello,

Is it possible to either change the built-in "Name" field of an Opportunity to be a calculated text field?

If not, could I change what field is displayed as the Opportunity "Name" at the top of a record (where I have highlighted in the screenshot)? For example, could I create another field called "New Name" and display that field as the Opportunity name?

Hi tgiard,

It is not possible to change the "Name" field to a calculated field as the Field Type is set in stone. You also cannot create a field called "New Name" and display that field as the "Name" field.

This is OOB behavior and always name field is populating in the top , you cant change this behavior. However you could configure workflow or write plugin opportunity create and update event to set the name field or write plugin whichever you prefer.
