Good Morning,

I want to create a test company (database) for GP. Will the creation of this database require additional licenses for my users, or will it use the existing licenses?

Thanks in advance.

    Good morning.

Depending on how you plan to create the company - the simple answer is NO

If you do all the work on the same server, use the same client code on workstations already connected and are simply creating a TEST company that is well within the license use rights of the software.

If you create a new server, new access to a new SQL Server, then that is where the new license will be required.  But from your question, NO, you should be good to go.

    Hope this helps.

By the way, should you require anyone to come to Belize - look me up - willing to travel anywhere there is sun and water - love Belize

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for the quick response, below is a hypothetical scenario just so I can gain further clarity.

I have a Company called "DBEL", that has 300 licenses and uses all 300.

I want to create a test company for "DBEL" called "TDBEL <Test>".

Will it require an additional 300 licenses for "TDBEL" or  will it access "DBEL" licenses?

Unless I am missing something in your configuration - I believe you are telling me that you have 300 User Access licenses for Microsoft Dynamics.

That should mean that you have 300 concurrent access licenses to "ANY" database that you create on a single SQL Server and that can be accessed via DESKTOP client, Web Client from any one your licensed devices.

Additional companies do not require additional access licenses - UNLESS - you are doing the TEST on a different server.

We have clients with 30 companies and 50 users - those 50 users can access any of the 30 databases - until all 50 users licenses are in use.

    Hope this is more clear.
