Sharepoint Document Integration setup fails with "Failed to connect to SharePointSite"

Hello

Our environment looks like this

Sharepoint 2019 (with latest patches). On-prem

CRM 9.1 Test server on-prem

CRM 9.0 Dev server on-prem

we connect the CRM 9.0 environment to one site and the 9.1 to another site in Sharepoint 2019

We use the same SSL cert (selfsigned).

When i try to connect the 9.1 server i get this :

<exception>Failed to connect to SharePointSite.</exception>
<errorcode>-2147088205</errorcode>

I can open the URL in the browser from the CRM sever and the site is ok.

Both the CRM and SP are listening on HTTPS wildcard for our domain
The service user has dbo  rights in the SP Site Content DB
I have no errors when i  import the cert in CRM
I have no errors when i configure the SP side in the integration

It fells like i just cant connect at all to the SP server, Cant see anything in the ULS logs on the SP servers, Cant see anything the event viewer on CRM/SP

Dont know where to look for errors anymore in CRM...
I have been everywhere on Google ..

I dont know how many times i have rebuild this integration and restarted the servers ..
(We had a working integration to our old SP 2016 Environment)

I have setup quite alot of these integrations, but it never worked out of the box..

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

Based on what you have described, I believe you have read the following documents.

Troubleshooting server-based authentication - Power Platform | Microsoft Docs

And it is also recommended to refer to:

View reports and logs in SharePoint Server 2016 - SharePoint Server | Microsoft Docs

to find if there are any reports or logs which can help you pinpoint the issue.

I found that there are similar issues posted by other users but no effective solutions.

If the above documents cannot help you, please create a ticket to MS for more help.

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya

I might be on to something here

I patched the working dev environment yesterday to CRM 9.1 and now that doesnt work either.

So there must be an issue with the 9.1 patch for CRM.

I have a open case with microsoft, they are looking into it.

They found an issue in the CRM tracelogs :

</StackTrace><ExceptionString>System.InvalidOperationException: The client certificate is not provided. Specify a client certificate in ClientCredentials. </ExceptionString></Exception></TraceRecord>

    [2021-06-21 12:40:59.101] Process:CrmAsyncService |Organization:00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 |Thread:  937 |Category: Platform.Sdk |User: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 |Level: Error |ReqId: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 |ActivityId: 25471b4b-9a5e-448e-9161-d308542ba1f3 | ServiceModelTraceRedirector.TraceData  ilOffset = 0x5B

We redid all the configuration from cert creation to SP/CRM config and we still have the same issue.

There is an issue with the 9.1 patch. I will continue to update this post when i get more information. (hate when the solution lacks from posts like this)

Have either of you tried commercial certs rather than self-signed?

    What do you mean?

Rather than self-signed certs.  Ex. Verisign.

    Hi!

I have exactly the same issue at a customer where i have upgraded the Test/UAT deployment/organisations to 9.1.6, they use DigiCert SHA2 wildcard certificate for the integration.

Question is, do i open a ticket on my own or do i wait for somebody that already did to share the solution/workaround?

    Happy troubleshooting!

    =)
